Our Pro Bono Community

Our phenomenal team of pro bono partners and volunteers allows Family Legal Care to serve people far and wide.

Innovative Virtual Platform

We employ user-friendly technology to enable pro bono attorneys and clients to meet over video and share documents in real time.

Make an Impact through Pro Bono

  • Make a significant impact from your home or office at times that are convenient for you.
  • Interact face-to-face with clients, who in turn don’t have to take off from work or arrange childcare and transportation—especially critical for homebound, disabled and rural parents.
  • Make a real difference in the lives of parents and caregivers with only a one-hour consultation though limited scope representation.
  • Receive comprehensive Family Law training while earning CLE credits and get live support from our Staff Attorneys during consultations.

Family Legal Care’s limited representation model enables us as volunteers to assist a much larger number of individuals and really have the biggest impact. It surprised me how hard it is for unrepresented litigants to be heard—both in terms of actually feeling heard and getting in front of a judge. Every client I work with, I become more and more empathetic to their needs…And I definitely hug my kid harder when I come home at the end of the day.

This program has offered a legal lifeline for Family Court litigants throughout New York State who are homebound or disabled, live in rural areas or have transportation or childcare issues. During the Covid-19 pandemic, this virtual pro bono platform is a critical tool in expanding pro bono resources to assist Family Court litigants statewide.
